1981 Baginda Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail

The facts :

1. born at Istana Semayun, Johor Bahru, 8th April 1932, third and eldest surviving son of Colonel H.R.H. Paduka Sri Sultan Sir Ismail ibni al-Marhum Sultan Sir Ibrahim, by his first wife, H.R.H. Sultana Amina Ismail.
2. fourth Sultan of Johor.
3. Became the eighth Yang di-Pertuan Agong or King of Malaysia from April 26,1984 to April 25, 1989. Installed at Kuala Lumpur, 15th November 1984.
4. married (first) at Johor Bahru, 5th January 1956 (div. October 1962), Y.Bhg. Inche' Kalsum binti 'Abdu'llah, née Josephine Treverrow, of Torquay, Cornwall. married (second) 20th August 1961, H.R.H. Tengku Hajah Zanariya binti Tengku Ahmad, Sultanah Johor.
5. He has issue, two sons and eight daughters.
6. Appointed Tengku Mahkota or Crown Prince in 1959, he was dismissed from that post in 1961 by his father after being found guilty of assault in the Malaysian courts and sentenced to imprisonment and re-instated as Heir Apparent and Tengku Mahkota, 29th April 1981.
7. He dropped his first name upon succeeding his father on May 10, 1981 as all other Sultans of Johor with the name "Mahmood" met with an uneasy end.
8. Controversy:

• While Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Iskandar created further controversy by assaulting a golf caddy. A soldier, the brother of the caddy who was badly injured, subsequently ran amok in Kuala Lumpur causing a security scare. The soldier was later arrested and sent to a mental hospital.
• His assault on a hockey coach and teacher, Mr Douglas Gomez (d.1999) sparked a constitutional crisis between the government and the Malay Rulers which culminated in the removal of the legal immunity from prosecution of all the rulers in March 1993.
  

Why I like :

1. He was the first Yang di-pertuan Agong I remembered since he was installed in 1984 and I was born in 1981.
   I like his charisma. He is charismatic in his own way...hehehe. ntah laa, memang suka cara dia.
2. He likes helicopter and I like helicopter too.
3. He married a foreigner/european.Suka la org asia yg kawin dgn org putih, nanti dapat anak muka Eurasian and gua suka Eurasian...hehehe.
4. because his name is Iskandar and I like that name very much. But I hate when his name is Mahmud.Lucky, he dropped that name.
