29th September, 2006 - Friday.
My first terawih for this Ramadan. Alhamdulillah.
That’s the beauty of Ramadan. It brings joy to the rich and poor people. Friendships are born and those apart become close. The beautiful sunset is waiting with patience among the young and old. Evil gone, the kindness now shines.
I’m not that religious and I don’t pray often. But Ramadan had taken me to the mosque and I believed so with the others. We are not force to but we are willing to. I see most of my family members, friends and neighbours rush to the mosque after breaking fast. It’s a hectic moment and full of noises but only happen in Ramadan. Mothers are busily yelling at their kids to get ready. Bathrooms and toilets are in traffic. Brothers and sister are rushing into the car for not to be left. I was attracted to be a part of that beautiful Maghrib scenario.
Road is busy with cars and motorcycles. Boys ride their bicycles while singing happily, and then stop at the shop to buy firecrackers before off to mosque. Mosque parking lot is full. New faces-young and old now coming to mosque. People pray at the corridor that makes us feel want a bigger mosque. Regular faces are blend and vanish by the new faces. Where are these people before? Busy…
How Ramadan makes people spend time for religion, family and community. TV is turning off, no lepaking with friends, no SMSing friends or lover and nobody sleeping during the Maghrib. That’s amazing. Everybody is getting close to family, friendly to neighbours, meet old and new friends, engage to community and cares about the poor.
That is the magic of Ramadan that we can’t find in other months. Let us cherish the Ramadan and may it makes us a better person. I am always happy when Ramadan comes. It’s the symbol of love, unity and humanity.
