This is a story of 3 days and 2 nights at Kem Kenari Nature Park, Yan, Kedah. I was there since Tuesday for Program Jati Diri for tsunami kids from Sek. Men. Keb. Kota Kuala Muda. My dad asked me to join the program as a facilitator. Since I got nothing to do and I need money, so I agreed to join.
Sekarang nih tengah lepak saja sebab my kaki dah kejang semacam ja sebab panjat Gunung Jerai dan daki tangga kenari. Jalan pun keras macam robot nih. Maklum la dah lama tinggal aktiviti macam nih. Thank God I decided to stop till Friday. Can’t imagine to continue the same program for another school which will end on Sunday. Mesti budak-budak tuh gelak kat aku sebab jalan keras. Anyway, aku tulis sikit pasai program yang aku dah buat kat sana.
Day 1 (12/6/2007)
Morning
1. Arrive at Kem Kenari Nature Park, Yan, Kedah with my Proton Saga at 8.15 am.
2. nobody is around, so I have to wait for almost half an hour at the office.
3. the first person I meet is paklang (the cook).
4. En. Jo takes me to the room and meet up with the other 2 girls who also the facilitator.
5. boys from SMK Kota Kuala Muda arrive with a bus around 10.30 am. So selekeh la all the boys, memang kampung habis…may be they are the perfect choice to show zoy the real orang kampong…hehehe.
6. wait for the girls to arrive. Common problem, tayar bas pancit. Program we all pun delay lah.
7. the girls finally arrive around 11.15 am. Aikk…kenapa jalan kaki. Bus diorang terlajak sampai Titi Hayun recreation park. Becoz the bus driver dah bengang tayar bas pancit tadi, dia suruh bebudak nih jalan kaki saja ke kem. Kesian bebudak tuh. Tersangat la terbudaya bila benda-benda macam nih jadi kat budak pompuan, mula la mulut diorang tuh tak henti-henti membebel, tahan telinga saja la.
8. ice breaking program starts at 12.00 pm. Students need to write down their name, nick name, address and draw their picture. Then, setiap orang akan dapat kertas kawan-kawan mereka and they need to call their friend by just show up their friend’s picture at the front.
program ni semakin boring when it was done the same way and technique for over half an hour. Outdated and the students out of focus and start to talk.
9. Team leader a bit lenient and lack of leadership skill.
Afternoon
1. LDK activity at 2.00 pm : students need to establish their own country complete
with flag, logo, organization chart, vision and mission.
2. they have a hobby game for the time left. This game is interesting and the students seem to get back their mood.
3. Uji minda game at 5.15 pm. Cik mat, Abg Ad and I diarahkan melepaskan students from the other location. Students suppose to memorize the things they see within 2 minutes. Don’t have the chance to see that game since I was located at another location.
Night
1. 9.00 pm : students need to present what they had done this afternoon. Ermm, what you can expect from students who have problem with studies and discipline at school from this kind of activity. Student out focus and not interested, coaches out of control and start to show their anger.
2. I just sit at the back with cik mat and abg ad, kutuk-kutuk activiti nih. That’s more fun..hehe. Then I notice the coaches who handle that program tengah tengok semacam ja kat kita orang, lantak kau la. Kita orang cakap yang betul and for that activity, I give fail.
3. night walk at 12.00 am : we take the students to walk in the palm trees estate. It’s really dark and it’s hard for me to walk and see anything inside it too. Then, we leave every students at different location alone, kira macam main burung hantu la nih. Pastu, kita main usik-usik laa. Pandai saja aku usik depa, walhal aku pun takut jugak tapi control macho la…hehehe. Ada yang menagis, ada yang control macho macam aku tapi muka dah pucat, ada yang pegang surah yasin…lawak gila, sempat lagi budak nih bawa surah yasin masuk hutan.
4. the night walk activity ends almost at 3 in the morning. Tak boleh tidur becoz bebudak perempuan dok bising menyembang. Tetiba aku teringat kat si waZZup waZZup pulak.
Day 2 (13/6/2007)
Morning
1. bersenam dan berjoging keliling kampung.
2. Communication game : game nih best sebab boleh gelak bila tengok ada student yang langgar pokok la, jatuh longkang la. All the students are blind folded except for their leader and assistant. Assistant will give instruction on how to go to their leader which will make a special sound from far. Dan aku punya tugas kacau budak-budak nih bagi diorang confuse arahan mana satu nak ikut.
3. LDK activity : every groups need to elaborate the topics given relate to the current social problems. They did this activity because last night activity was failed. May be they heard what we said. Although not so good but better than last night since they are participation from all students.
Afternoon
1. management game : ada 4 game and they all have to do all the four games. Aku kena jaga game kupas kelapa tanpa menggunakan apa-apa alat. This game only to see diorang punya kerjasama dan how they think on solving a problem.
2. rentasi halangan : once again all the students are blind folded and we take them into the jungle. So they have to redah sungai, lumpur, terowong and banyak lagi. Kecoh la satu hutan dengan jeritan bebudak perempuan nih. The best part when they need to crawl down under a tunnel. The tunnel is short but we told them that it’s a long tunnel. So diorang pun merangkak la sepanjang sungai. Memang lawak gila tengok gelagat diorang.
Night
1. they have a motivation session with a special invited motivator. So aku just lepak saja la.
2. About 11.15 pm, we have the last game for them iaitu jadikan tali yang panjangnya sedepa menjadi 2 meter. And how they gonna know it is 2 meters, they have to think. Having this thinking game late at night, of course the result is fail. No group gets the answer and the students are sleepy, tired and misfocus.
Day 3 (14/6/2007)
Morning
1. we all pi jungle tracking sampai kaki bukit Gunung Jerai. Nasib baik kaki bukit saja, kalau sampai puncak Gunung Jerai, alamat aku kena bawa turun dengan ambulance la. Dah tau nak tracking, air pun aku tak bawa. Tadak preparation langsung, nampak sangat dah lama tinggai benda-benda nih. Kat atas tuh macam-macam hal, yang nak termuntah la, yang krem kaki laa tapi nasib baik juga aku ok. Paling lawak bila ada student yang terpijak perut lembu yang mampus dekat anak sungai. Dia ingat batu sebab warna lembu tuh koko-koko sikit macam warna batu. Apa lagi, terburai la segala isi perut lembu tuh dengan najis-najis sekali.
2. lepas tracking, aku diarahkan membawa pelajar perempuan mandaki tangga kenari. Jumlah anak tangga 900 lebih kot tapi aku bawa depa naik sampai anak tangga ke 500 saja. Penat siut, lutut aku dah terketaq-ketaq. Masa turun tuh hujan lebat, merasa la main hujan. Lepas tuh student semua minta nak mandi air terjun dan ketua jurulatih izinkan. Syok juga tengok bebudak tuh mandi air terjun dalam keadaan hujan lebat.
Afternoon
1. Pukul 2 petang, majlis penutup pun diadakan. Tak pasai-pasai aku kena jadi emcee. Seumur hidup aku tak pernah jadi emcee tapi control macho punya pasai, aku terima saja. Lepas tuh bermula episod minta nombor telefon la, alamat rumah la, sesi bergambar la dan nak jadikan kak angkat la. Bab nih yang aku kurang gemar sikit. Mula-mula aku tak bagi langsung tapi bila diasak banyak kali dan jurulatih lain pun cakap bagi la, aku pun terpaksa la bagi. Aku dah cakap awal-awal yang aku memang malas cakap phone, sms pun kalau ada kredit. Tapi aku rasa bebudak nih saja minta sebab nak tunjuk lagak dekat kawan-kawan diorang yang tak mai saja.
2. Aku ingat bila students semua dah balik, aku pun boleh balik tapi kena stay pula sebab ketua jurulatih nak jumpa berkaitan kes jurulatih perempuan. Biasa la aku kalau tak buat hal, tak sah la.
