  1. having had issue, four sons and one daughter.

Why I Like :

  1. His love for "all things English"...hehehe.
  2. He had 2 European Queens : Sultana Helen and Sultana Marcella. No Malay King ever had European Queen. He was the first. He was out of the tradition during his era.
  3. He was futuristic compared to the other king during his era. No wonder Johor was well developed state and the first state in Malaya which had its own Undang-undang Tubuh Negeri.
  4. He was a great king and ruler. He brought many foreign systems to Johor and trained his people to be systematic and organized. He did many things to change his people mentality. He believed his people can be changed. He also believes his people were able to do whatever the foreigner did with a proper training but still he didn't believe his people ability to govern Johor without the help of foreigner especially British. I'm sure, if he still alive today, he must be amazed by what had been done by UMNO, Dr. Mahathir and Malaysian people. For me, he was as great as Dr. Mahathir but Dr. Mahathir believed his people ability. That what make Dr. Mahathir the best.
  5. He was a controvercial king during his era, just like his grandson.
  6. third rank of my old time favourite kings.

Sultan Ibrahim was an anglophile whose love for all things English made him indifferent to Malaya and prefers to spend most of his time traveling Europe. Not only did he waste money giving expensive presents to King George V, - who had lots of money to begin with - he was also very much against the Malayan fight for independence. How is it possible that you can compare him to Dr. M?

p/s: He was even more famous as a playboy (why do you think he has so many wives?)
